Class-Action Lawsuit.

AI Highlights
  • - I am filing a suit; join via copythatco@***.com.
  • - I was scammed; service calls are 100+ miles away; I used a disposable card to stop billing.

For all you Pros out there who have been taken for a ride. I am filing a class-action lawsuit today with my attorney.

Whoever would like to join me please email me at copythatco@***.com. Let's sue the pants off of this scamming organization and try to save our small businesses everybody!!!! I have been working as an office equipment pro for almost 3 months now. At first business was incredible.

The money was rolling in and I moved into a larger office thinking this is my shot to the top. Not! Now I get service calls that are a hundred miles away or more. I am being played.

I also had to load a disposable card to keep them from billing me at will with no explanation. Now I have to sell off most of my copy machines and printers just to pay my business lease.

I have been a copier engineer for 27 years and have never been treated and scammed out of my money like this ever!! The time has come to take Thumbtack down people!!

Whatever happened to this class action?? They stole my money and never returned it.

I reported them everywhere, but nothing was done.

They convinced the cc that they were right to take the money, even after I sent them proof of the contrary. THUMBTACK NEEDS TO END, THEY ARE THIEVES.

Yes we ALL need to file a class action lawsuit against Thumbtack!!! How can we get that started???

Melaina Eak

i totally agree… i’m sure we’re still about 4-5 years before we get to see the lawsuit against thumbtack materialize cause of how much d**n money they have as a big corporation scamming people.. i had 250 5 star reviews on there i worked my but off to build my profile up and the more time moved on the less i used it because it turned into a horrendous waste of $, was the best thing in the advertising industry when they first started and leads were cheap as crap.. now they just rob people with these dumb weekly budgets and auto charges, this being said i still used it from time to time only being very picky and selective about my preferences for lead connections, but they recently emailed me and told me the background check was now becoming mandatory, and i have a completely insane misdemeanor on my record for child harm where my daughter got into something she wasn’t supposed to but that was NOT A HUGE DEAL, a total accident and impossible to be harmful to a child, but i was manipulated by the DSS and court system and they planted this charge on me because my in laws never liked me much and wanted to put a wedge between me and their daughter so they fed them lies and it was this huge ordeal family had to move out and back in, money wasted on lawyers, and i thoroughly explained this to thumbtack in a very detailed professional email and they still declined my petition and closed my account all that hard work and building the profile up just thrown in the trash, feel discriminated against, targeted, and worst of all scammed out of thousands…

How to contact you for the class action, There is an email, but they have hid it.. All I can read is COPYTHATCO@***.COM.

This site left out some letters ,.. please reply with proper contact info for class action Thank you Michael M

Guest

Their biggest scam is having you set "Targetting Preferences" and Pre-loading your account, so they automatically charge you if someone's request matches your services. I turned it off. Their other rip-off is their "Opportunity" tab.

Michael M Rya

How do we contact you ?

Not feeling like these leads are legit, after canceling our card on file and hiding my business from the app, we were still charged. These may be leads may be fraudulent and there must be a better way to secure the leads!

please include me in this Class Action lawsuit. ThumbTack is doing nothing but ripping off Pros!!!

It does not appear to be, unfortunately. I started an alternative called Rhiz in response to this along with Yelp's issues (watch The Billion Dollar Bully if you haven't yet).

No fake leads, no review issues. It's about consumer-facing networking to get word of mouth online.

I know that Thumbtack is a greedy bunch of *** suckers. I have seen this Pissed Off Customer up for years now, and see no sign of any activity.

other than seeing comments posted periodically. I'm beginning to think that is site is bordering on a scam.

What is your motive? You haven't done anything except look for clients.

Thumbtack - Unauthorized fraudulent charges
Original review updated Feb 03, 2026

I am repeatedly getting charged for one way transfers- which we do not offer, never have, never will. My preferences have always stated that we need to charge at least 3 hours minimum.

When I follow the process to deny the job and request refunds- at least half the time I am denied refunds. This is unethical, unprofessional and illegal.

I have spent several thousand dollars per year on legitamite Thumbtack leads since 2019 and deserve this serious issue is rectified immediately by upper management. I will not purchase any more Thumbtack leads until then.

Scaming!!!

AI Highlights
  • - Direct lead seeks painting for a 2BR apartment at $2000.
  • - It says deduct $1800 for painting and send the rest to the landlord via CashApp/Zelle.
Updated by user Mar 08, 2026

I am a new user of Thumbtack. It was ok for me. They contacted me and refund money.

Original review Mar 02, 2026
Hello. I recived today a direct lead that I was charged.

But this lead looks like scam. A person contacted me outside Thumbtack firstly via my cellphone, then after I was ivited to contac this person via his mail. His mail is kelvinlorell@***.com and in that email I recived information like that:
Hello,Thank you for your Prompt response. My name is Kelvin ,I'm 55 years old and i just moved here, I am Member of the United Methodist Church...my mom (80 years) would be coming over.

I have a son that just got married in November and away with his in-laws. I will not be arriving until about the 18th of March and it would be too much chores to do by then, so I need someone as soon as possible for painting...
Bedrooms Size as followed One of the bedrooms is approximately 11' X 11'and the other one is 12' x 12', but not a perfect square, so probably closer to 100 square feet it comfortably fits a full size bed, desk, armoire and chest of drawers.iThe apartment is large (approximately 1,300+ sf) and features the following:-Full kitchen with dishwasher, oven, microwave, etc..-Washer/ Dryer-1 full bath 1 half bath-central air and heat
The apartment occupies the entire floor of the building with direct access via the elevator.

Also i would like you to know that all tools and materials needed for the job to make it perfectly okay for you will be provided, So you don't have to be bothered.I'm willing to pay $2000 for the Painting of My new apartment for me, i think this is a reasonable price since it's just a 2 bed room apartment and you are only to paint the 2 bed room only and it shouldn't take more than a day to get it done and i need them painted probably before my arrival and my mom's arrival,You will be provided with the date and time by my new Landlord, As soon as I'm done making payments to you for the painting, My Landlord will be taking you to the Apartment in person immediately i contact him that i have finally paid for the painting service.
I want the Painting done before i get back to the States, I already made arrangements for the payment and also the keys to the apartment, My Landlord will be showing you the Apartment so the locations shouldn't be a problem, He will be there to help you in all you need. I will instruct my employer company to issue and mail out the payment he owes me so you can deduct the $1800 which i believe is a reasonable amount for Painting the Apartment, have the remaining funds send to the Landlord of the apartment via Cashapp/Zelle transfer so he can bring down the keys to you and he would be available when you are ready for the Painting, the remaining funds you will be send to the Landlord is the balance payment for the Apartment cause am just moving in, I'm only doing this cause I'm presently out of the states for a Seminar and which am of the Facilitator, and i want things to go smooth and perfect before my return.
If you think you can handle this Painting and all the details as explained, kindly get back to me with the following information:

Account disabled

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - Account was disabled after two uses with no explanation.
  • - No email access to contact support.
  • - Suggests looking for another company.

I have used my account twice, following their rules, but my account was disabled, no explanation! I'm a consumer and take good care of my property, so I don't need handyman services regularly.

Without email access to the site, I cannot even contact support. I think I was disabled because I'm not generating revenue frequently for them.

If you want a company that will be there when you need them, look for another company other than Thumbtack. The way they treat customers is sickening and privileged, greedy capitalism with no interest in providing a valuable service if they can't 20X ROI you in the process.

Cons:
  • Infinity

Preferred solution: I wanted my account to be to be accessible, but not anymore. What I want now is for them to go out of business!!!

User's recommendation: do anything to avoid thumbtack!

AI Highlights
  • - Signed up yesterday; lead appeared; amount started $21, rose to $41.
  • - Support wants proof; account deactivated; client thinks I'm a scammer.

I just signed up yesterday and received a lead. The first thing I noticed when I first accepted the lead was that the amount was set for $21.00.

After accepting, it changed from $21.00 to $31.00 to $41.00. I went to support and explained this. The rep pretty much said if I didn't have screenshots then I had no proof and couldn't help me.

While working with the client, my account was deactivated, and now the client thinks I'm a scammer. There is no one to fix this over the weekend; this makes things worse.
