Here is the message I sent to them as I deactivated my account with them. To be fair, I did get a few customers over the years and I had great success as they turned into business customers, but that was years ago and many versions of how they changed their business...for the worse.

I have used Thumbtack for almost 9 years and I had some moderate success for a short time, but your latest model to match customers to my business is not working, in fact, it is the most backward lead generation system I have ever tried to use.

Your leads have become junk and the last lead I paid for automatically I disputed. I was told it was an EXACT match, which it was in no way remotely because I per your logic, I own a computer shop and they, the person who submitted the junk lead, was in the range, which he was not. Who is the person behind your business killing logic? It is your job to get me leads that I want to bid on and 9 times out of 10, I pass because there is not enough information to make an informed decision, so as I said, I pass.

Then the few that I accept, rarely does the person provide any contact information and when I send questions, I rarely get a response, yet I paid for the lead. I have addressed this before with your company, if a lead does not give a full name, an e-mail and most importantly, a contact phone number, then the value of what you provide is reduced to almost nothing. I own a few businesses and my retail locations have staff that are trained, so if the last junk lead I automatically paid for were to bring a twenty year old Mac into my business, then the person told me that the Apple store wanted too much to repair it (which ironically, for that particular repair, I cannot even touch their price, oh, by way, Daryll did say he took it to Apple store), then I would have passed on the job, but your genius process connects magical dots that said I am an exact match. By that logic, any mechanic shop should be able to fix any car, regardless of the issue because they have tools and that person has a car.

You have a flawed process and I have tried to help you, but it is clear your business decisions are being made with no thought to the people that actually pay you, businesses like mine. You are more concerned with people submitting garbage leads and without businesses such as mine, the people submitting poor leads are not going to pay you, so how long do you plan on being in business?

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.
