Thumbtack promised me they were sending me 3 water heater experts to bid on my project. 2 out of the 3 companies didn't even have a plumbing license to perform the work they quoted.

When we asked them about permits they stopped replying to my emails. All 3 of them had been in business for a short time and claimed to have 5-16 employees each, we later found that to be inconsistent.

Turns out that none of them had any employees except.

This is a major safety concern when a well know website like Thumbtack paints a picture of these guys being qualified experts only to find out they are far from qualified to perform plumbing work.

Reason of review: Problem with delivery.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Thumbtack Pros: Ease of use.

Location: Kansas City, Kansas

See the long picture and not the short one, just because a plumbing/heating company has no license does not mean that company is up to no good, it could be that they subcontract out the business to a licensed company and that all the paperwork will be through a licensed contractor. Most contractors don't like to market for work. Just know that many LICENSED CONTRACTORS can be crooked.
