Thumbtack sucks big time! I have been Thumbtack pro for a couple of years. After trying to compete with overseas talent - meaning not getting any jobs, I decided to change my email preferences with Thumbtack.
I chose to not receive any notifications. The moment I did that they started to charge me for "automated promotion od my business" - never sending me any info about those charges.
I never knew about the "auto promotion", never send any quotes and never got any jobs.
Now, a couple of months later, when I discovered those charges, they refuse to refund the money the charged without my consent. Even the money that was charged less than 30 days ago (which according to their refund policy should be refundable without questions).
Thumbtack management are predators preying on vulnerable small business owners, who cannot afford legal representation.

Terrible Company
First of all you guys have a ton of contractors that are Handyman NOT licensed plumbing companies bidding on work which causes us actual plumbing companies to pay for a ton of leads that aren't going to get sold because we actually care how our work is done and we are licensed to do so. Second of all we had a customer submit a review that was ridiculous because we wouldn't help him defraud his homeowners insurance company.
I've asked him why the 1 star review and no response which I didn't expect.
I asked for it to be removed due to his reasoning and you refuse to do so!!!!!!!!!! Terrible company and myself and several other LEGIT plumbers will start to leave for the fact you guys just let handyman in on jobs they shouldn't be in on and cut throat LEGIT plumbers!!!!!!

Dishonest and horrible useability
Thumbtack sales agent contacted me for "free" services because my profile was fantastic and qualified for it. So I set up an appointment. When I tried to call him, i was transferred to a foreign call center and they had no idea who he was. After he blew off our appointment, he finally called me using a random telephone number generator. Red flag, red flags!
Well right away he asked me to pay $300 pre-paid. Yeah right totally free huh. I said this was a bait and switch. He said, I can see why you think that ... of course because that's exactly what it is.
Also so I used the service and it kept sending me jobs that were on the other side of the country and not in my own state! He said it was simple to change, but after several 30 minute attempts, I gave up. I'm not technology challenged. The website is absolutely flawed on multiple levels.
Well the "employee" suffice to say gave me tons of bull for 30 minutes and dished out lies for why I need to spend a minimum of $600 for unproven services.
Totally fraudulent claims and lies. They are nothing like their competitors who I am using successfully with no issues and nice service. Their competition are not liars and push fraud.

Paid for a scammer
I My name is Martine Heureux. I paid a lead for a certain Debbie Brickell who said she needed cleaning services in Miami.
We have been discussing the details and today she told me to go to 274NW 32nd St in Miami to clean Apt #4. I was supposed to start at 11 am. I was there at 10h50 and waited until 11:25 am before leaving the property. I travelled for 35 minutes to get there, waited another 35 min, and drove back home another 35 min.....for no job,no pay, and I paid 38$ to get this lead?
I am not happy at all. I want to be paid back and don't want this lead system because also you sent me other ones and when I want to see the lead details you guys are blocking me.

Hi! Sorry, I have a question, how do you leave deposit on TT, when they are charging per lead, you just setup your budget, but do not deposit anything? are you sure you weren't scammed by somebody else?
